Understanding AI-accelerated development without the prototype trap
AI tooling can generate working software far faster than traditional development, but raw generation produces prototypes, not products. The difference is engineering discipline layered on top: a sound data model, tests, migrations, authentication, error handling and monitoring. We use AI to compress the build, and senior engineering to make the output production-grade. The speed is real, and so is the durability, because the AI handles the volume and the engineer handles the architecture and the edge cases.
